The Long Ball helps Bryant split with UMBC on Friday

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Bryant University softball team hit five home runs in the 13-5 game two victory against UMBC.

Sam Rohwer had multiple two-run home runs, her first career multi home run game. Meaghan Houk knocked a two-run home run, while Makenna Coleman and Amira Rainer hit solo home runs.

The Bulldogs fell 7-0 in the first game of the day.

  • The Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the second and never relinquished the lead.
How it Happened (GM2)
  • Makenna Colemam hit a double and then Hannah Cohran hit a single, scoring two (2-0). This led to a Rohwer two-run home run in the top of the second inning (4-0).
  • UMBC hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second (4-1).
  • In the top of the third, Faith Valenzuela reached second base on an error, and Coleman knocked an RBI-single to center field (5-1).
  • Amira Rainer launched a solo HR in the top of the fifth (6-1).
  • UMBC hit two solo HRs in the bottom of the fifth (6-3).
  • In the top of the sixth, Coleman drew a walk, leading to a Rohwer two-run home run (8-3). Meaghan Houk hit a single, and Alexis Larrow was walked. This led to a Bryce Clendenin sac-fly and a tenth run on a UMBC error (10-3).
