Bryant Women's Rowing Competed For a Top Three Finish At Amherst invitational

Amherst, MA -- Bryant University's rowing team competed at the Amherst College invitational this past weekend. Notably, Bryant went up against Amherst College and Mt.Holyoke, placing second overall in the Varsity eight event.

For Bryant's spring season debut, the Black and Gold went back and forth for the lead with Amherst College the entire course before eventually succumbing to Amherst's lead for first place, however, Bryant snuck behind them with only a two-second difference for a 7:11.2 time to Amherst's 7:09.9.

Notes From Coach Ricker:

"The last time we raced against Amherst was in the spring of 2023, where we found ourselves at about a 30-second deficit in similar conditions. So, to come down to a couple strokes at the finish line determining the winner was a huge step forward for the program. We are also excited to see Mt.Holy
oke again in Worcester next weekend and how we stack up against/ a few other programs there.

3 athletes who raced in the 2V4+ event are first-time rowers who started on the water earlier this month in Tennessee. It's pretty exciting to have them challenging down the entire course and in the lead for a good portion of the race.

I'm impressed with how well the athletes handled themselves and how confidently they raced, even with the cold and the head current. They've set themselves up to be building into a fast season that we are all excited to see come together."
