THE SERIES
This marks the 15th all-time meeting between Bulldogs and the Friars. Bryant owns an 11-4 lead in the Division I series. The Bulldogs have won the last four matchups, including a 15-13 victory last season in Providence.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence enters Saturday 1-0 on the season after earning a 15-8 victory over Holy Cross on Feb. 1. Junior attacker Richie Joseph led the charge for the Friars in the victory, tallying a career high eight goals on 11 shots. Senior attacker Jack Horrigan would also have a hat trick in the win for Providence, finishing with three goals and an assist. Graduate goalkeeper Dan Donahue saw the majority of time in cage last weekend for PC. He recorded nine saves and allowed five goals in just over 52 minutes of action. Senior faceoff specialist Quinn McConnaughey had a strong showing at the X to start the year; winning 14-18 faceoffs against the Crusaders. The Friars have been earning national praise to start the season. They have received votes in both the Inside Lacrosse KANE Media Poll (Feb. 3) and USILA Coaches Poll (Feb. 4).
BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES
- Bryant senior defenseman, Drew Lucas, was selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team on Tuesday Jan. 14. Bryant was picked to finish third overall in the annual coaches poll.
- The Bulldogs are 12th all-time in NCAA Division I win percentage (.619)
- Scott Einarson was fifth in the NCAA in goals against average last season (8.83).
- The 2024 Bulldogs were third in the NCAA in ground balls per game averaging 37.69.
- The Black and Gold were also ranked fifth in the NCAA in man-down defense. (.792)
