ELLIOTT TALLIES 167 ALL-PURPOSE YARDS IN LOSS TO #13 URI

KINGSTON, R.I. – Elijah Elliott of the Bryant University football team recorded a season-high 167 all-purpose yards and a rushing touchdown in the 38-17 road loss against #13 Rhode Island on Saturday.
 
Jaden Keefner had a career-high 196 passing yards and threw a touchdown pass for a second consecutive game.
 
Olatunde Mkparu recorded his third career interception and also had a forced fumble, and Michael Grant tallied a sack.

  • The Black and Gold took the lead (17-14) with five minutes left in the half. URI would then outscore them 24-0 for the remainder of the game.
How it Happened
  • URI hit a big pass on the first drive, but then Olatunde MkParu punched it out and Ezra Carter recovered it. This led to a 12-play drive that resulted in an 11-yard touchdown pass to Koby Keenan from Jaden Keefner (7-0). The drive saw Elijah Elliott gain 28 yards, and also passes caught by Carter Neuman and Tristen Riley for 17 and 12 yards.
  • The Rams countered with a 51-yard rushing TD with three minutes left in the first quarter to tie the game at seven.
  • On the ensuing kickoff, the Black and Gold fumbled and gave URI the ball in the red zone. This led to a six-yard rushing touchdown to the outside, giving the Rams the lead with just over two minutes left in the first quarter (14-7).
  • Keefner found Elliott on an incredible 59-yard catch to get the Bulldogs in the red zone. This drive would result in a 22-yard FG for Nicholas Stoyanovich (14-10).
  • Mkparu would intercept the ball in the endzone with the ball on the one-yard line. This led to an 11-play drive that ended with a one-yard Elliott touchdown run, giving Bryant the lead with five minutes left in the half (17-14).
  • The Rams would counter again with a seven-play drive that resulted in a 27-yard TD pass with under two minutes remaining in the first half (21-17).
  • Before the end of the half, URI nailed a 54-yard FG, making the score 24-17 at the half.
  • URI scored on a 38-yard TD pass, after a quick three-play drive (31-17) at the six-minute mark of the third quarter.
  • Before the two-minute timeout, URI scored on a pick-six (38-17).
