SMITHFIELD, R.I. – La Salle scored seven minutes into the first overtime to earn a 1-0 victory over the Bryant field hockey team on Friday afternoon at Steven '69 and Lily Cowen Field.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-2 on the year. Bryant closes out the weekend at home against Sacred Heart on Sunday (12:00 p.m.).

Sara DeSousa played the entire game in net, posting five saves.

- La Salle goalie Andy Boggs made two key saves in the fourth quarter to keep the game scoreless.

- DeSousa stymied an Explorer opportunity as she raced out of her cage and slid to knock the ball away from an attacking player.

- Bryant had one of its best chances as Natalie Griffin joined the play late and fired a shot from the top of the circle. Boggs got a toe on it and the ball then deflected off the post but stayed out.
Fourth Quarter
- Griffin had a chance right in front of the cage but Boggs was able to close off the angle and deny the opportunity.
Overtime
- La Salle earned the first penalty corner of the overtime and converted. The initial try got away from the Bryant defense and Pla was able to come in on the backside and knock it home.
