Bryant falls to La Salle in overtime, 1-0

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – La Salle scored seven minutes into the first overtime to earn a 1-0 victory over the Bryant field hockey team on Friday afternoon at Steven '69 and Lily Cowen Field.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-2 on the year. Bryant closes out the weekend at home against Sacred Heart on Sunday (12:00 p.m.).

Sophomore Sara DeSousa played the entire game in net, posting five saves.

  • La Salle goalie Andy Boggs made two key saves in the fourth quarter to keep the game scoreless.

  • Griffin had a chance right in front of the cage but Boggs was able to close off the angle and deny the opportunity.
Overtime
  • La Salle earned the first penalty corner of the overtime and converted. The initial try got away from the Bryant defense and Pla was able to come in on the backside and knock it home.
