SMITHFIELD, R.I. –
Caitlin Gallagher posted her first career multi-goal game to lift the Bryant field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Merrimack on Tuesday afternoon at Cowen Field.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 2-3 on the season. Bryant wraps up its six-game homestand on Friday against Stonehill.
Gallagher's first two goals of the year were also her first goals since the 2022 season.
Filou Verhoeven added her second goal of the season to complete the scoring.
Sara DeSousa was not forced to make a save in earning her second win of the season.

- Gallagher scored her first goal in the fifth minute of the game to give the Bulldogs the early lead.
First Quarter
- Bryant grabbed the early lead as it forced a turnover deep in Merrimack territory. The ball was played across the circle and corralled by Abby Crowley who found Gallagher in front. Gallagher turned a fired a shot low for the first goal of the game.
Second Quarter
- Bryant's press forced another turnover and the Black and Gold were able to convert. Alexa Sedicino intercepted and charged ahead before feeding Callie Caito in the circle. Caito found Gallagher who tapped it into the empty cage.
Third Quarter
- Verhoeven converted on a penalty corner to make it 3-0 in the 28th minute. Eva Boogers inserted and Verhoeven's shot deflected off a Merrimack player and into the back of the net.
Fourth Quarter
- Maud van Lierop came on for DeSousa and along with the Bryant defense was able to preserve the shutout.

- Bryant snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory.
- The Bulldogs have now won each of the last five meetings with Merrimack.
- Gallagher posted her first-career multi-goal game. It marked her first goals since the 2022 season.
