SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore
Alexa Sedicino scored her first collegiate goal to tie the game in the second half but a Providence College goal with nine minutes left proved to be the difference as the Friars earned a 2-1 victory over the Bryant field hockey team on Sunday afternoon at Cowen Field.
With the loss, the Bulldogs split their season-opening weekend. Bryant's four-game winning streak was snapped as well.
Sedicino tied the game with 5:16 left in the third quarter and freshman goalie
Maud van Lierop kept the game tied with a save on a stroke. The Friars, however, broke the tie with a goal at the 9:02 mark of the fourth quarter.
