Bulldogs fall to NC State Friday in NCAA Regional

RALEIGH – Jackson Phinney gave Bryant a 1-0 lead but top-seeded and host NC State used a pair of big innings to earn a 9-2 victory over the fourth-seeded Bryant baseball team on Friday night in game two of the NCAA Raleigh Regional.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 36-20 on the season and will face No. 3 seed James Madison in an elimination game on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. NC State will face No. 2 seed South Carolina in Saturday's winner's bracket final.

Phinney's third home run in as many games made it 1-0 in the second but the Bulldogs were limited to just four hits on the night. Zac Zyons, Carmine Petosa and Matt Smith all collected doubles in the contest.

  • Phinney gave Bryant a 1-0 lead in the second with a towering solo home run to left field. It was his third home run in as many games.
