Bulldogs 2nd Half comeback falls short in loss to Maine on the road

ORONO, ME. – The Bryant University football team fell to Maine on the road 38-26 on Saturday after being down 35-0 in the first half and then outscoring the Black Bears 26-3 in the second half.
 
Brennan Myer tallied 251 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. Landon Ruggieri hauled in two touchdowns, Drew Montez posted a TD, and Tristen Riley posted a TD.
 
Markiel Cockrell recorded 128 all-purpose yards, and CeeDee Doby led the team with a career-high 11 tackles, while Nathan Voorhis had a sack for a third consecutive game.

  • Maine jumped out to a 35-0 first-half lead before the Bulldogs outscored the Black Bears 28-3 in the second half but fell short.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs turned the ball over on downs, giving the Black Bears the ball on their own 18. Maine would lead a five-play drive capped off by a 48-yard touchdown pass (7-0).
  • On the next Black Bears drive, Maine found the tight end over the middle for a 38-yard TD (14-0).
  • The Black and Gold threw an interception, placing Maine on the Bryant 30-yard line. The Black Bears then scored on a 15-yard rushing to the outside (21-0).
  • On the next Maine drive, the Black Bears hit a 79-yard pass for a touchdown on the third play of the drive (28-0).
  • Maine executed a six-play 62-yard drive to end the half, creating a 35-0 deficit for the Bulldogs.
  • The Black and Gold came out strong in the second half, recording an eight-play touchdown drive that saw a 13-yard Montez catch, an 11-yard Dylan Kedzior run, and a 15-yard touchdown catch in the corner of the endzone to Ruggieri (35-7).
