Bulldogs Fall to SLU in St. John's Finale

Box Score

QUEENS, N.Y.- The Bryant women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to Southeastern Louisiana to close out this weekend's Kaiser Classic at St. John's. Riley James led the Bulldogs with twelve kills, three blocks, and 13 digs.

Coach Garlacy's Comments: "We had a gritty performance from Alysa Wright and Josie Deluga in today's match. Alysa was named to the all-tournament team. Riley and Carol were also consistent offensively."

Southeastern Louisiana 3, Bryant 1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14)

Records: SLU (8-2), BRY (6-5)

How it Happened

Set 1: SLU opened up a big lead to start the match, going up 12-1. Bryant made a couple pushes to trim the lead, but could not catch up. Alysa Wright had four kills and a block in the set for the Bulldogs.

Set 2: Bryant got off to a much better start in the second, as four straight kills by Caroline Kennedy, Fabi Castro, and Mia Cergol helped them open up a five point lead. The Bulldogs went on another 5-0 run to go up by as many as nine, and held off a late SLU run to win the set by four. James and Castro combined for ten kills for Bryant.

Set 3: Both teams traded blows throughout the third set, exchanging the lead eight times. A Riley James kill gave the Bulldogs the lead at 17-16, but three straight points for the Lions gave them the lead for good. James and Kennedy had four kills each for Bryant in the set.

Set 4: Bryant scored three of the first four points to open Set 4, but an SLU run trimmed the lead before the Lions took over for good at 7-6. Kennedy and Aubrey Lapour both had three kills for Bryant in the set.
