Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Mia Cergol was named America East Setter of the Year on Thursday. She ranked second in the conference with 10.4 assists per set in league play and recorded 11 double-doubles on the season. She is the first Bulldog to a win a major conference award since Kirstyn Sperry won NEC Setter of the Year in 2017.

  • Cergol and Alysa Wright were both named to the all-conference first team, and Riley James was named to the second team. All three were named All-Academic.

  • Wright enters the postseason third in America East with a .316 attack percentage. She also ranks in the league's top ten in kills, blocks, aces, and total points.

  • A semifinal win would put Bryant in a conference final for the second straight season. It would also secure back-to-back 20-win seasons.

  • The Bulldogs' 13 non-conference wins are their most in the Division I era. Their 19 overall wins included two over Top-100 RPI teams (Syracuse and UMBC).

Scouting the Retrievers

  • UMBC enters as the No. 2 seed after finishing the America East regular season 7-3. They are the two-time and defending conference tournament champions.

  • Players to Watch: Junior libero Aysia Miller was named AE Defensive Specialist of the Year, while outside hitters Mia Bilusic and Kamani Conteh were named to the all-conference first team.

  • The Bulldogs' win over the Retrievers last Friday was their first in program history. Caroline Kennedy, Riley James, and Aubrey Lapour combined for 45 kills in the five set win.
