Bulldogs downed by SJU on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's lacrosse team fell to Saint Joseph's, 13-5, on Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium. 

SJU won 20-of-22 faceoffs and held the Black and Gold scoreless for over 30 minutes. 

Austin Kent led the Black and Gold with three points (2g, 1a), while Teagan Alexander made 17 saves in his first collegiate start.

"Congratulations to Coach Wray and the St. Joe's team today on their convincing win on the road. We were outplayed, out-coached and out-fought this afternoon. The credit goes to the team in red. Final two weeks of conference play coming up for us. On to Sacred Heart."

  • Trailing 2-1, Saint Joe's scored the final three goals of the first quarter and never looked back.      

How It Happened

  • Kent opened the scoring with a rifle to the top right corner less than four minutes into the contest. 
  • SJU tied the game less than a minute later but Isaiah Davis gave Bryant a 2-1 lead off a feed from Logan McGovern
  • The Hawks, though, tied the game less than a minute later, and then scored twice in the final three minutes to make it 4-2.
  • SJU added a pair of second-quarter goals to take a 6-2 lead at the half.
  • The Hawks tallied two goals within a minute of each other in the third quarter before Kent stopped the run.
  • Jake Fiske would add a goal in the third for the Bulldogs but SJU took a 10-4 lead to the fourth quarter. 
  • Aidan Goltz scored in the fourth but the Hawks scored three times to put the game away.
