Bryant heads to NEICAAA Championships this weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University indoor track and field team is set to compete in the NEICAAA Championships this weekend starting Friday, February 1 – Saturday February, 2 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Senior Adam Winiarz (Norton, Mass.) is set to compete in the 200-meter this weekend for the second year in a row.
  • Freshman Andrew Canale (Lincroft, N.J.) will make his NEICAAA debut in the 400-meter after running a personal-best of 49.34 last weekend at Boston University.
  • Senior Alec Binette (Glastonbury, Conn.) makes his return to New England's after competing in the 400-meter a year ago. This season, Binette will represent Bryant in the 500-meter.
  • Three Bulldogs will be competing in the 800-meter run including Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.), Christopher Wrenn (Norton, Mass.), and Brian Salit (Seekonk, Mass.). Last season Wrenn and Salit competed in the 800 as Wrenn finished with a time of 1:57.35 and Salit finished with 2:06.01 in the preliminary heats.
  • Sophomore Jordan Dagrin (Providence, R.I.) will represent the Black and Gold in the 1000-meter run. Last year at New England's Dagrin was successful in the mile run finishing 20th overall with a time of 4:32.88.
  • Looking to continue a successful senior season in both cross country and track and field, senior Matt McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.) is set to compete in the 3000-meter.  McGovern has ran to second and third place finishes this year in the 3000-meter event with a season-best time of 8:45.35 at the Alden Invitational.
  • Five Bulldogs will be running in the 5000-meter run including Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.), Benjamin Carlson (Middletown, Conn.), Alexander Duncan (Concord, N.H.), Bodie Avery (Fairlee, Vt.) and Peter Theuerkauf (Glen Rock, N.J.).
  • The Bulldogs will also highlight two different relay teams at NEICAAA with the first running in the 4x400 and the second competing in the 4x800.   
  • On the women's side, freshman Rebecca Reynolds will make her NEICAAA debut as the rookie will compete in the 500-meter dash for the first time this season.
  • After running a personal-best in the 800-meter at the Bates Invitational, freshman Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.) will also compete in the NEICAAA for the first time in her career.
  • Sophomore Ellie Goyette (Lowell, Mass.) ran to a fourth place finish last weekend in the 1000-meter running a personal-best 3:27.22. Goyette is set to compete again in the 1000-meter at New England's this weekend.
  • Junior Breann Campise (Tolland, Conn.) will represent Bryant in the 5000-meter run alongside freshman Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.).
  • Courtney Kelleher (Wrentham, Mass.) is the lone Bulldog competing in a field event this weekend for both men and women as the sophomore is set to compete in the shot put event. Kelleher is coming off a second place finish at Springfield last season throwing 11.73 meters.
