THIBODAUX, La. - Bryant University senior Nick Campbell
(Raynham, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and sophomore
David Soltis (Plainville, Conn.) had a hit and
scored twice but it was not enough as Houston Baptist rallied from
down 2-0 to earn a 15-5 win over the Bulldogs Saturday
afternoon.
Bryant (0-2), looking to bounce back from a 4-3 loss to host
Nicholls State earlier Saturday at the Big Boy Classic presented by
Hampton Inn, scored a run in the top of the first and added another
in the top of the second before Houston Baptist rallied for three
runs in the second off starter John Michael Ryan
(Worcester, Mass.) to take a 3-2 lead.
The Bulldogs would answer in the top of the third as Soltis led
off with single to center and moved into scoring position after a
double by Dylan Stone (Portsmouth, R.I.).
Bryant would get the run home three batters later as
Jeff Vigurs (South Windsor, Conn.) flied out to
center but deep enough to get the tying run home.
HBU (1-3) would break the game open with a run in the fourth and
scoring three runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Bryant will close out the tournament against Tennessee-Martin
Sunday at 11 a.m.
