WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO MOUNT ST. MARY'S 71-68

EMMITSBURG, MD - The Bryant University women's basketball team
dropped a 71-68 decision in the season-finale Monday evening at
Mount St. Mary's. The Bulldogs led 34-29 at the half but
could not come away with the win as Bryant ends its first year of
Division I play with an 11-18 overall record.
Cara Johnson and Siamone
Bennett each had 15 points to lead the way while
Kelsey O'Keefe and Jamie Campbell
each had 14 combining to go 11-for-18 shooting from the
floor. Bennett was 6-for-7 from the field and had eight
rebounds in one of her best outings of the season.
Brianna Gauthier led Mount St. Mary's (14-15) with a game-high
32 points on 10 of 19 shooting and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the
free throw line.
Bryant shot 52 percent from the field for the game but took 17
fewer free throws as Mount St. Mary's made 25 of 29 free throws to
Bryant's 9 of 12 attempts. Bennett had three blocks for the
Bulldogs who out-rebounded MSM 33 to 28 for the game.
Bryant led 52-50 following a layup by Campbell with just over 10
minutes left but a 9-0 run by Mount St. Mary's put the hosts ahead
for good.
