BULLDOGS FALL TO BINGHAMTON ON LAST SECOND SHOT IN AE QUARTERFINALS

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Bryant University women's basketball team fell to Binghamton on a last-second buzzer beater in the America East Quarterfinals on Thursday in New York.

Izzy Adams made a layup with five seconds remaining to give the Bulldogs a one-point lead, but the Bearcats would make the final shot at the buzzer.

Nia Scott led Bryant with 11 points, and Maranda Nyborg tallied ten.

How it Happened

The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the game's first seven minutes. Nia Scott scored the first two baskets, and Izzy Adams converted a wing three-pointer.
The Bearcats countered with a 5-2 run to end the quarter, giving Bryant a two-point lead (13-11).
Bryant began the second quarter on a 10-7 run that was capped off by two Martine Boba three-pointers (23-18).
Binghamton closed the second quarter on a 9-4 run, tying the game at 27 at halftime. Scott led the way with ten points in the first half.
The Black and Gold tallied four points all from Maranda Nyborg, while the Bearcats posted eight, creating a four-point deficit (35-31) at the 3:48 media timeout in the third quarter.
Both defenses clamped down, with the Bulldogs earning a slight 3-2 edge, shrinking the lead to three (37-34) heading into the fourth.
The Bulldogs stormed back with a 6-2 run, behind back-to-back and-one baskets from Mia Mancini and Boba (40-39), which created a one-point lead with five minutes left in the final quarter.

Izzy Adams then drove to the basket and finished with her right, giving Bryant a 44-43 lead with five seconds left.
On the final possession, Bella Pucci drove to the basket and let it go before time expired and banked in the shot, resulting in a 45-44 loss for Bryant.
