BULLDOGS LOSE 3rd STRAIGHT; FALL TO JAMES MADISON, 5-0,
SUNDAY
HARRISONBURG, VA- James Madison received goals from five
different players, as they beat the Bulldogs, 5-0, in men's soccer
action Sunday afternoon. The Dukes (3-2-2) are now undefeated in
their last five games, putting up a 3-0-2 record during that time.
On the other side, it was their third straight loss for the
Bulldogs (1-6-1) as they are now winless in their last five games,
unable to find the back of the net in each of those contests.
Joel Senior (Washington, D.C.) started the scoring for the Dukes
in the first half when Jason Gannon (Vienna, Va.) lofted a ball
into the box that Senior collected and finished for the 1-0 lead
just six minutes into the game. Later in half, the Bulldogs got
unlucky as a ball off the head of Billy Swetra (Egg Harbor City,
N.J.) deflected off of a Bryant defender and past the reach of
keeper Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) for the 2-0 halftime
advantage. Black made two stops in net for Bryant.
James Madison continued to control play in the second half,
outshooting the Bulldogs nine to three in the half and 13-7 in the
game. The Dukes scored two goals in quick succession to help put
this one away as Andrew Harvey (Herndon, Va.) scored in the
65th minute followed by Nick Zimmerman (Tampa Bay, Fla.)
in the 67th to make the tally 4-0. Stefan Durr
(Garmisch, Germany) would add a final goal in the 88th
minute, ending the game with a 5-0 final. Freshman Nick Parisi
(Holbrook, N.Y.) was Man of the Match for Bryant.
The Bulldogs will try to bounce back Friday when they play at
the University of Maine (3 p.m.).
