OLD DOMINION KNOCKS OFF BRYANT, 7-0, IN MEN'S SOCCER ACTION
FRIDAY NIGHT
NORFOLK, VA- Junior forward Steffen Rabben (Fagernes, Valdres,
Norway) and sophomore forward T.J. Bealieu (Apex, N.C.) each had
six points to lead the Old Dominion Monarchs over Bryant, 7-0,
Friday night. Rabben put home a hat trick, the second straight
against the Bulldogs, as he scored three straight goals in the
17th, 43rd, and 61st minutes.
Bealieu, who assisted on one of Rabben's goals, added two goals of
his own along with dishing out two assists. The loss dropped Bryant
to 1-5-1 on the season, as the squad is now winless in their last
four matches.
The seven goals by Old Dominion (3-3-1) were the most for the
program since the 2000 season, when they beat American by the same
7-0 tally. Keeper Brennan Kirkpatrick (Shreveport, LA.) picked up
his third shutout of the year, making two stops. The Bulldogs, who
were outshot 17-4 in the contest, received one save from Neil Black
(Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and three from Victor Tutino (Deer Park,
N.Y.).
The Monarchs started the scoring early when senior Trevor Banks
(Madison, WI.) got the Monarchs rolling with a goal in the
10th minute of play off a corner from Dylan Montambo to
Jason Loizou who then fed Banks. The goal would prove to be the
game winner, as ODU would tally two more before the halftime break,
and then four more in the second half to lift the Monarchs to a 7-0
victory. Frankie Hand (Lynbrook, N.Y.) was Man of the Match for
Bryant.
The Bulldogs will try to snap their losing streak Sunday
afternoon when they play at James Madison (2 p.m.).
