GARLACY GETS 350TH CAREER WIN IN 3-0 TOPPLING OF WAGNER COLLEGE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- In a match led by 13 kills from freshman Hilary Andrews (Tipp City, Ohio), the Bryant University volleyball team got head coach Theresa Garlacy her 350th career victory, topping Northeast Conference opponent Wagner College, 3-0, Friday night at the Crusader Classic in Worcester, Mass. The victory is the sixth in the Bulldogs' young Division I debut season.

Andrews's 13 kills were compliments by seven digs and a block assist, while sophomore Adrienne Boss (Dracut, Mass.) and frosh Jazmin Stoner (Durango, Colo.) each added six kills of their own. Fellow rookie Maria Scocca (Melrose, Mass.) also had a big day en route to Garlacy's coaching milestone, registering five kills with five digs, two service aces and five total blocks (1 BS, 4 BA).The Bulldogs move to an impressive 6-2 with the win, while Wagner falls to 2-3 on the year.

Now in her 13th season at the helm of the Bulldog volleyball team, Garlacy left the Division II ranks as the 26th most-winningest active coach (344 victories) and as No. 24 among active coaches in winning percentage. She also is the 17th most-winningest coach all-time in Division II by win percentage (min. 10 years).

Now, she leads her Bulldogs as they make a mark in Division I.

During her career, the Smithfield, R.I. native and 1988 graduate of Providence College has led the Bulldogs to nine-straight NCAA Division II tournament appearances, winning four Northeast-10 Conference championships and one ECAC Championship along the way. 

A member of the NCAA regional volleyball committee, Garlacy was honored by the Rhode Island Special Olympics with the Distinguished Service Award. In 2002, Bryant volleyball received the Community Service Program of the Year award.
