MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO MARQUETTE, 4-1, IN SEASON OPENER

MILWAUKEE, WI - Anthony Colaizzi (Gurnee, Ill.) scored two goals and added one assist as Marquette University (1-0-0) took down Bryant University , 4-1, in both teams' season opener in Milwaukee Monday night. Bryant fell behind early in their Division 1 debut when sophomore Hector Navarro (Milwaukee, Wis.) hit a bent shot from 30 yards out that beat Bulldog keeper Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) into the far corner of the net to give Marquette a, 1-0,  lead just 11 minutes into the game. It wouldn't get any better for Bryant in the first half of play when Colaizzi put in his first goal of the match off a pass from Tim Jallow (Uppsala, Sweden) in the 24th minute. Just 5 minutes later, the Golden Eagles would put make it a, 3-0, deficit, when Matt Stummer (Woodridge, Ill.) buried one-touch shot off a cross from Colaizzi into the back of the net.

In the second half of play, Colaizzi would add his second goal when he found himself in the right place at the right time to finish a ball that deflected off of Bulldog keeper Black in the 57th minute. Bryant would get on the board in the 77th minute as freshman Anthony Restivo (Lisbon, Conn.) found fellow classmate Robb Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) for his first career goal, making the final score, 4-1. Black made five saves in goal for the Bulldogs as they were outshot 16-5.

Bryant's next match will be Friday as they take on VCU at the University of Richmond (8 p.m.).
