ROMEOVILLE, Illinois - The Bryant women's volleyball team opened the 2007 season Friday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Saint Joseph's (IN) at the Lewis University Flyer Festival.  Game scores were 30-19, 30-20, 30-18. In only the team's first outing of the season, the Bulldogs hit just .043 offensively against a Saint Joseph squad that was playing its seventh match of the year. 

Monika Sattler paced the Bulldogs offensively with seven kills and added three digs while sophomore Julie Geonnotti (St. Louis Park, Minn.) added six kills.  Sattler, a junior outside hitter from Gruenwald, Germany, hit .143 on 21 swings.  Geonnotti, a sophomore, had just three errors on 23 attempts and chipped in with six digs defensively.

Sophomore Morgan Wood (Cedar Park, TX) had three blocks, two of which were solo while senior setter Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, Ill.) added 22 assists.

Sara Cramer paced Saint Joseph's (5-2) with 14 kills. 

In the second match, Bryant (0-2) dropped a 3-0 decision to Southern Indiana, falling 30-21, 30-16, 30-27.  The Bulldogs struggled to find the groove offensively in the first two games, combining for just 14 kills as a team, but rebounded to play very well in the third set, hitting .182 with 14 kills before falling 30-27. 

Senior Likicia Grceva (Natick, Mass.) had seven kills to pace the Bryant attack while Sattler added six and Wood chipped in with five kills to go with three blocks.  Freshman middle Caitlyn Kogge (Enfield, Conn.) had a team-best four blocks including two solo.  Garry finished with 25 assists.

The Bulldogs will close out the tournament Saturday with matches against Wisconsin Parkside and host Lewis University.  The team will open Northeast-10 Conference play Wednesday at American International (7 pm).
