BRYANT VOLLEYBALLD DEFEATS AIC 3-1

SMITHFIELD, RI - Bryant
senior middle Jessica Cegarra (Danville, N.H.) hit
.406 with 19 kills and just six errors to lead the Bulldog women's
volleyball team to a 3-1 win over American International College
Wednesday night at the Chace Athletic Center.
Junior Likica Grceva (Natick, Mass.) added 16
kills for the Bulldogs who opened strong, winning the first two
games 30-20, 30-21 before AIC roared back to take the third
32-30. Bryant trailed 25-22 in the third before making a
strong comeback to tie the match on back-to-back kills by
Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL) and Beth
Schlatterer (Arlington Heights, IL) to make it
27-27.
With AIC serving for the match, Schlatterer and Garry combined
on a block to pull the Bulldogs even once again at 29-29, but the
Yellow Jackets (2-2, 0-1 NE-10) would hold on for the win.
AIC was led by Charisse Trotman and Christy Castillo's 9 kills
while Jennifer Hormann had 17 digs defensively for AIC.
Garry had 47 assists in the match and Maureen Atkins
(Fenton, MO) added 18 digs.
The Bulldogs (3-7, 1-0 NE-10) will host Mercy (6 pm) and
Philadelphia Sciences (8 pm) in first round action of the Bryant
Invitational this Friday.
