BRYANT AND LE MOYNE BATTLE TO 1-1 DRAW
Northeast-10 Men's Soccer
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant
University men's soccer team had plenty of scoring chances in the
final minutes of regulation and in overtime but finished with a 1-1
tie with visiting Le Moyne College in a Northeast-10 Conference
match Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.
Brandon Morse put Le Moyne (8-3-1, 6-2-1 NE-10)
ahead 1-0 with a goal in the 21st minute of play.
Mark Lukowiecki took an indirect free kick from
just outside 40 yards for the Dolphins, however, the ball would
deflect off a Bryant defender and directly to Morse who was able to
beat Bryant goalkeeper Alex Bissias (Harpswell,
Maine) for the game's first goal.
The Bulldogs (5-3-3, 3-3-3 NE-10) would answer a few minutes
later. Junior Matt Amsden (North Providence,
RI) put on a strong rush on the Le Moyne net and found
freshman Matthew Brown (South Easton, Mass.) on
the right side. Brown was able put it past Dolphin keeper
Steve White with a one-timer to tie the game up 1-1 in the 28th
minute.
The Bulldogs would have a golden opportunity in the final
minutes of regulation, but Wheeler Smith's (Franklin,
Mass.) low shot inside the box was stopped by White with
an excellent save to help force extra time.
Bryant will host Stonehill on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Bulldog
Stadium.
