BRYANT VOLLEYBALL WINS FIRST TWO MATCHES
OF SEASON
Bulldogs Compete at C.W. Post Volleyball Tournament
BROOKVILLE, NY -
The Bryant University women's volleyball
team picked up its first two wins of the 2006 season Friday
afternoon, defeating New York Tech, 3-0 and Queens College (NY),
3-0 in first-day action of the C.W. Post Volleyball
Tournament.
After going winless at the UC San Diego Invitational last
weekend, Bryant (2-5) swept both matches thanks to strong play from
senior Jessica Cegarra (Danville, NH) and junior Tiffany Garry
(Frankfort, IL). Cegarra posted 17 kills for the Bulldogs in
the win over NYIT and followed with nine in the win against
Queens.
Garry, the NE-10 Setter of the Year, had 39 assists in the win
over NYIT plus added 10 kills and five service aces. She
followed with 30 assists and 6 service aces vs. Queens.
Maureen Atkins (Fenton, MO) had 15 digs in the win over
NYIT.
Morgan Wood had 10 kills and four blocks vs. NYIT and followed
with six blocks against Queens.
The Bulldogs will face CW Post and Nova Southeastern on Saturday
to close out the tournament.
