Diego Triton Invitational 0-5
LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Bryant women's volleyball
team dropped a 3-0 decision to 14th-ranked Cal Poly
Pomona to wrap up the 2006 Triton Invitational hosted by UC San
Diego Saturday.
Bryant (0-5) was led by Likica Grceva who paced the Bryant
attack with 11 kills. The transfer from Maryland Eastern
Shore hit .296 with just three errors on 27 swings. Sophomore
defensive standout Maureen Atkins (Fenton, MO) added 13 digs while
junior setter Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, IL) had 27 assists.
Senior Vanessa Lavallee (Gilford, NH) finished with eight kills
as Bryant hit .176 for the match and had six blocks. Four of
Bryant's five losses in the tournament came against teams ranked
nationally in the AVCA preseason poll.
Senior middle hitter Jess Cegarra (Danville, NH) was named to
the All-Tournament team after finishing with 41 kills and seven
blocks in five matches.
The Bulldogs will travel to Brookville, NY for the CW Post
tournament next weekend where they will face NYIT and Queens on
Friday.
