ANDOVER, Mass. – The 10th-ranked Merrimack College
women's lacrosse team scored a pair of goals in overtime to
top Bryant 13-11 Monday night in Northeast-10 action at Warrior
Field.
With the win, Merrimack improvs to 4-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in
the Northeast-10. Bryant falls to 3-2 overall (1-2
NE-10).Six different Merrimack players scored,
with senior Alison
Colarusso (North Andover, Mass.) leading the way
with four goals. Colarusso and freshman Kathleen Esposito
scored the overtime goals for the win.
Bryant scored the game's first goal and
took a 3-1 lead on goals from Ashley Hegarty, Lauren Carlisle, and
Ashley Ammendolia. Merrimack answered back and tied the game
at three.
The game would be tied two more times in the first half, with
Bryant scoring the tying goals with just 10 seconds left in the
half.The second half was much the
same.
Merrimack took a 9-7 lead on goals by Jennifer Strachan (Bedford, Mass.) and
Colarusso, but Bryant reeled off three goals of its own to take a
10-9 lead. Merrimack once again surged ahead on goals by
Strachan and Amanda Simeone
(Nashua, N.H.), but Bryant's Lindsay Cann
tied the game at 11 with 3:32 left.
In the overtime, Merrimack outshot Bryant,
5-2,and found the back of the net twice for the win.
Merrimack's Gina
Sansone (Norwood, Mass.) collected 15 saves for the
