SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University women's lacrosse wrapped up their season Sunday afternoon at Beirne Stadium, falling to UAlbany, 14-10, in the America East Championship.
Bryant and UAlbany traded goals throughout a competitive first half, and Bryant trailed 4-3 but responded with a strong second-quarter performance, going into the break with a 7-7 tie thanks to Riley O'Mara and Amelia Piercy.
UAlbany pulled ahead in the third quarter on a 4-2 scoring advantage and ultimately shut the door on the Bulldogs in the final quarter to secure the conference title.
Piercy led the Bulldogs offensively with a hat trick, while O'Mara and Malin-Skye Turnquist each contributed two goals. Slate recorded her first multi-goal performance, while Elise Larsen tallied a career-high of four assists for the Bulldogs..
Defensively, Bryant caused 13 turnovers and won 13 draw controls, led by Kaelynn O'Brien with four, but the efforts were not enough, as the Great Danes outpaced Bryant 3-1 in the fourth quarter, and the Great Danes sealed with a 14-10 victory over Bryant.

How It Happened:
First Quarter
UAlbany asserted themselves by putting up four goals in the opening first quarter including two from Gracie McCauley. Bryant then answered with three of their own by Amelia Piercy, tallying one of her early goals. Turnquist and Slate each collected a goal of their own. The first quarter ended with UAlbany ahead 4-3.
Second Quarter
Bryant gained momentum in the second quarter outscoring the Great Danes 4-3. Riley O'Mara and Rylee Slate made key offensive plays while Elise Larsen recorded a two-assist quarter. Despite quick goals from Albany's McCauley and Popard, Bryant managed to tie at the half with a goal from Amelia Piercy with just 30 seconds to go. The second quarter concluded with a 7-7 tie.
Third Quarter
UAlbany came out strong in the third with four goals, including two more by McCauley, who was unstoppable all game. Though Bryant kept pace early with another from Piercy and a goal by
Malin-Skye Turnquist. The visitors held a slim 11-9 lead heading into the final period.
Fourth Quarter
UAlbany clamped down defensively in the fourth, limiting Bryant to just one goal while netting three of their own. McCauley scored her eighth of the game, and Williams added her third to seal it. Despite Bryant's efforts, UAlbany's stretch closed the door on a comeback.
