BRYANT VOLLEYBALL DROPS PAIR ON
LONG ISLAND
SATURDAY
OAKDALE, NY - The Bryant women's volleyball team dropped a
pair of non-conference matches on Saturday at Dowling
College. The Bulldogs fell to the host Lions 3-0 in the
opener and dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Millersville in the
second match.
Against Dowling, the defending regional champion, Bryant hit
just .021 offensively in falling 30-14, 30-17, 30-21.
Likica Grceva (Natick, Mass.) had nine kills and
managed to hit .221 while freshman Julie Geonnotti (St.
Louis Park, Minn.) had eight kills and added five
defensive digs. Setter Tiffany Garry (Frankfort,
IL) had 20 assists and recorded one of Bryant's two
service aces in the match.
Justyna Michon had nine kills to lead Dowling which hit a solid
.314 and recorded eight team blocks to Bryant's four.
In the second match, Grceva again had the hot hand as she
recorded a career-high 25 kills and 24 digs, plus hit a blistering
.417 offensively but it was not enough as the Bulldogs fell, 23-30,
32-30, 19-30, 30-19, 15-12. Jessica Cegarra
(Danville, NH) had 17 kills while Garry dished out 55
assists and picked up three aces.
Bryant (14-12) will return home from its nine-match road trip to
host Stonehill on Tuesday night at the Chace Athletic Center.
