BRYANT MEN ROUT SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT, 79-50 THURSDAY
Northeast-10 Conference Basketball
SMITHFIELD, RI
– The Bryant University men's basketball team used a 21-0
run early in the second half and held visiting Southern Connecticut
to just seven second half field goals in rolling to a 79-50 win
over the Owls Thursday at the Chace Athletic Center.
Leading 39-28 at the half, the Bulldogs
led 43-31 in the early stages of the second after an alley-oop dunk
by Jon Ezeokoli (South
Orange,
N.J.) just two minutes into the
second half.
After a P.J. Isaacson layup made it 43-33
at the 17:55 mark, Bryant would put the game away by holding
Southern Connecticut without a field goal for the next 11 minutes
as John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) drained
three-straight three-pointers – two from long range - and
Chris Burns (Merrimack, NH) added a 3-pointer of
his own as the Bulldogs led 64-33 and emptied the bench.
Williams finished with a
game-high 15 points as Bryant made 11 of 27 three-point attempts
and shot 46.8 percent from the floor. Burns and Ezeokoli each
had 12.
Southern Connecticut (5-14,
2-13 NE-10) was led by Devon Sullivan's 14 points as the Owls
turned the ball over 27 times and finished with just 18 field goals
in the contest.
Bryant (13-6, 8-6 NE-10) will travel
to Franklin Pierce on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. game in Rindge,
N.H. The Bulldogs host UMass Lowell next Wednesday
night.
