Volleyball Defeats Saint Anselm
SMITHFIELD, RI – Michelle Muniz pounded out 15 kills while
Jessica Cegarra added 12 to help lead the Bryant University
women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over visiting Saint
Anselm here Tuesday night. The Bulldogs, with the win, run
their conference win streak to 30 matches dating back to the 2002
season.
Against Saint Anselm, the Bulldogs won the first two games 30-21
and 30-19 but struggled in the third, falling to the Hawks 30-28 as
Alana McNeil led the way for the visitors with 13 kills on 37
swings.
The Bulldogs trailed Saint Anselm for most of the fourth game as
Jennifer Tougas helped lead the Hawks to a 20-16 lead thanks to
several strong serves. Tougas had a pair of aces during the
run and finished the match with six kills.
Bryant would answer as Muniz, three aces and nine digs, helped the
Bulldog rally to tie the game at 20-20 and put together a 5-0 run
to lead 27-21. Cegarra, this week's NE-10 Player of the
Week, helped the cause with two powerful kills.
Bryant will travel to Waltham, Mass. on Friday to face Rollins
(7:30 p.m. ) and host Dowling on Saturday (11 a.m.).
