Muniz Becomes Bryant's All-Time Kills
Leader in Bryant Victory Tuesday
EASTON, Mass.-- Senior Michelle Muniz (Guaynabo, P.R.)
recorded 19 kills and 15 digs to lead Bryant to a 3-0 Northeast-10
Conference volleyball victory over Stonehill Tuesday evening by
game scores of 30-27, 30-26 and 30-25 in a league match played at
Merkert Gymnasium.
Muniz (right) became the all-time kills leader for the visiting
Bulldogs (14-7, 7-0 Northeast-10) with her effort, as she passed
former Bryant standout Maria Bras's total of 2,045 in the second
game and now has 2,057 for her career. Junior Jessica Cegarra
(Danville, N.H.) added 15 kills and four total blocks for the
winners, who also received 46 set assists and eight digs from
sophomore Tiffany Garry (Frankfort, Ill.) The win was
Bryant's 35 straight in conference play dating back to
2002.
Sophomore Sara Thompson (Millis, Mass.) paced the host Skyhawks
(5-14, 3-4 Northeast-10) with eight kills and three solo blocks in
the setback, while senior Kathleen Riley (Melrose, Mass.) and
sophomore Rebekah Saunders (Gilford, N.H.) added five kills each
for Stonehill, which also received 11 set assists and seven digs
from senior Mollie Babcock (Gilford, N.H.).
Both Stonehill and Bryant head to Albany, N.Y. for their next
respective Northeast-10 match against Saint Rose, as the Skyhawks
meet the Golden Knights on Friday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m.,
while the Bulldogs square off with Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon
at 2:00 p.m.
