GREER NAMED 2009 USILA SECOND TEAM
ALL-AMERICAN
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University men's lacrosse graduate
student and 2009 Tewaaraton Trophy finalist Zack Greer
(Whitby, Ont.) was named a 2009 Second Team All-American,
his fourth career All-America selection, as announced by the United
States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Tuesday morning.
A two-time First Teamer, Greer repeats the All-America bid for
the third-straight season, garnering the honor while leading Bryant
to a 10-5 record in its inaugural Division I season.
Greer led the Bulldogs offensively and was among the best
in the nation with 42 goals scored. He paced Bryant in assists with
26 and collected a team-best 68 points, while his 4.53 points per
game remain tops in the nation.
The NCAA Division I all-time leading goal scorer, Greer finishes
his career with 248 tallies, also ending his collegiate campaign
with the nation's longest points-scored streak, collecting at least
one point in his last 49 career contests. Greer also leaves the
collegiate ranks tied for the all-time DI points-scored record with
353 total points.
This season, Greer's 11-point outing against Sacred Heart (6g,
5a) ranks him tied for the best single game total in DI in 2009,
and he recorded 13 multi-point contests in just 15 games played.
Greer registered 11 multi-goal games on the year, scoring four or
more goals five times and collecting four or more points on eight
occasions.
Greer earned First Team All-America honors in 2007 and 2008,
garnering a Third Team All-America selection as a freshman in 2005.
He, for the second-consecutive season, is also among five
Tewaaraton Trophy finalists in 2009.
