Coach Resendes is a rising star in the college soccer coaching community, having built one of the best winning percentages in the country with an overall record of 125-16-10 in eight seasons as a head coach.
Head Coaching Record:
Bryant University, NCAA D1 (2023 & 2024): 26-8-6
Franklin Pierce University, NCAA D2 (2019-2022): 66-5-4
Dean College, NJCAA & NCAA D3 (2015 & 2016): 33-3-0
In his first two years at the helm of the Bryant program, Resendes has led the Bulldogs to two record-breaking seasons, setting and surpassing season-best marks in every major single-season category in 2023 and 2024. After inheriting a program that went 3-10-1 in 2022 before his arrival, Resendes has led the Bulldogs to two straight America East Championship games. In his first season in 2023, the team set the record for most wins in program history with a 16-2-2 record, winning the America East Conference title and making it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The 2023 team led the country in several major statistical categories and ranked No. 1 in shutouts and goals-against average.
Resendes continued to establish Bryant as one of the best defensive teams in the country in 2024. The Bulldogs' stubborn and stout defense led both the conference and the nation in shutouts and goals-against average for the second consecutive season. Resendes also guided the Bulldogs to their second straight 10-win season (a program first) and two conference playoff wins (quarterfinals and semifinals), earning a spot in the America East Championship game for the second time (2023 & 2024).
Unfortunately, this time around, the Bulldogs were edged out by the eventual national champions Vermont in the America East Final, losing 2-1 in the final five minutes of the game on a corner kick. The 2024 team set numerous second-best marks to 2023 in the record books, including most wins in a season, goals scored, goals against, and shutouts, continuing to establish themselves in the top 25% of NCAA Division I programs competitively over the past two seasons.
Before taking over at Bryant, Resendes led Franklin Pierce’s men's soccer team through its most successful era in program history, culminating in an NCAA Division II National Championship in 2022. In his four seasons at FPU, the team consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally. Resendes’ overall record during his time at Franklin Pierce (2019-2022) was 66-5-4.
In his final season (2022), the Ravens finished 25-0-1 overall, tying the record for the highest winning percentage for a school claiming a national title in NCAA history. After winning the conference regular season and tournament championship for the second consecutive season, Resendes was named Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year for the second straight year (2021 & 2022). Resendes and his staff were recognized as United Soccer Coaches East Region Coaching Staff of the Year for the third consecutive year (2020, 2021, 2022) and were named National Coaching Staff of the Year at the end of the 2022 season.
In 2021, Resendes led Franklin Pierce to a 20-1-1 record, sweeping the Northeast-10 Conference regular-season and tournament championships and making a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship before being eliminated in penalty kicks by Millersville.
During the abbreviated and delayed 2020-21 COVID season, Franklin Pierce finished 6-0-0, including victories over three NCAA Division I opponents—Providence College, the University of Rhode Island, and UAlbany—earning a No. 2 NCAA Division II national ranking to conclude the COVID spring season.
In 2019, Resendes inherited an FPU program that had finished 7-10-1 the season prior to his arrival (2018). In his first season, he led the Ravens to a 15-4-2 overall record and a second-place conference finish. Resendes and his staff secured an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament and made an impressive run to the national championship quarterfinals (Elite Eight) before falling to eventual national champions Charleston (WV).
Before arriving at Franklin Pierce in 2019, Resendes served as the top assistant coach at the University of Vermont (2017 & 2018) under Rob Dow in his first two seasons as head coach. During his tenure as first assistant at UVM, the team captured the America East Championship in 2017 after being picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll. In addition to his role at Vermont, Resendes also served as the Director of Coaching & Player Development at Blackwatch Premier Youth Soccer Club, based in Burlington, Vermont.
Before moving to Vermont, Resendes began his head coaching career at Dean College (MA), where he inherited a program that was 9-6-1 before his arrival and led the team to a 33-3-0 record over the 2015 and 2016 seasons, helping the program transition from NJCAA Division I to NCAA Division III.
In 2015, during his first season, Resendes led the Dean Bulldogs to an undefeated regular season (16-0-0) in their final year of NJCAA Division I before being upset in the first round of the national tournament, finishing 16-1-0. He was named Easton Region Coach of the Year.
In 2016, Dean entered its NCAA Division III exploratory year and played a full Division III schedule. Resendes led the Bulldogs to a 17-2-0 record in their first Division III season and was recognized as the 2016 Massachusetts Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Due to their transition between divisions, the Bulldogs were ineligible for NCAA postseason play.
Resendes held his head coaching position at Dean for two seasons while simultaneously serving as a head coach within the New England Revolution Academy (MLS) for their U23 and U14 teams. During his tenure with the New England Revolution, Resendes helped develop many future professional players and U.S. Youth National Team players.
As a player, Resendes graduated from and played four seasons at NCAA Division II Southern New Hampshire University, where he was a four-time All-Conference selection, a three-time All-Region selection, and an All-American in his senior season. The Penmen made four NCAA Tournament appearances during his playing career, winning two conference championships. After college, Resendes played one season overseas in Iceland’s first division before beginning his coaching career as an assistant at Emmanuel College (2013) and his alma mater, SNHU (2014).
Resendes is the founder and Director of Resendes Soccer Academy, established in 2019. The organization held three camps in its first year and, five years later, now offers more than fifty camps and clinics year-round across New England, serving more than 20 youth soccer organizations with various coaching services in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Resendes resides in Swansea, Massachusetts, with his wife, Kate, and their three daughters, Ainsley, Gabriella, and Callie, along with their dog, Charlie.
