Bill Legg will be in his first season as the Quarterbacks Coach for Bryant in 2026.
Legg, who has nearly 40 years of coaching experience, spent the last two years at Minnesota as an Offensive Analyst. Last season, the Gophers averaged 23 points per game and 293 yards of total offense.
Marshall, where he most recently coached the offensive line and was the associate head coach. Prior to coaching the offensive line, he led the tight end group.Â
Legg, who has had three separate coaching stints at Marshall, has also worked at West Virginia, Mercer, Mississippi State, Florida International, Purdue, Virginia Military Institute, Eastern Illinois and West Virginia Tech. He has served as an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, offensive line coach, tight end coach, offensive analyst and assistant to the head coach in his stops.Â
Prior to his most recent venture at Marshall, he was the assistant to the head coach at West Virginia for the 2020 season. Before that he served as the offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach at Mercer for the 2019 season. Legg also spent the 2018 season at Mississippi State as a senior offensive analyst.Â
Legg was the offensive coordinator at Marshall from 2010-17 and helped lead the Herd to three consecutive 10-win seasons, a 2013 Conference USA runner-up finish, the 2014 Conference USA championship and a 5-0 bowl record. Marshall’s offense finished No. 6, No. 12 and No. 2 nationally in total offense from 2012-14, averaging 534.3, 500.4 and 559.2 yards per game.Â
He spent the 2008-09 seasons as the offensive coordinator at Florida International and was at Purdue for the 2003-2007 seasons. While at Purdue, he coached the offensive line and then was the co-offensive coordinator for his final two seasons. With Legg calling most of the offensive plays, the 2006 Boilermakers led the Big Ten in passing offense (291.6 yards per game) and total offense (415.7), ranking No. 6 and No. 13 nationally. In 2007, Purdue again led the Big Ten in total offense (435.92) and scoring offense (34.31) and ranked No. 12 nationally in passing offense (307.15).
Prior to Purdue, Legg coached the tight ends and was the recruiting coordinator at Marshall in 2001-02. The Herd ranked No. 3 nationally in total offense both years, averaging 505 and 495 yards per game, while compiling a 21-4 record and winning two bowl games.Â
From 1995-2000, Legg worked at West Virginia as the interior offensive line coach and was the offensive coordinator during his final season. The Mountaineers played in four bowl games in his six years on the staff.Â
Legg also had stints at Virginia Military Institute (1994), Eastern Illinois (1989-93) and West Virginia Tech (1988). He was a graduate assistant at West Virginia in 1986-87, working with tight ends and special teams.
