Biography

McKenna finished off one of the finest four-year careers thatBryant has ever seen. Since walking onto campus as a freshman,McKenna has been the starting shortstop for the Bulldogs, startingin all of Bryant's 223 games over the last four years, setting theprogram record for both games started and games played.

McKenna also finds himself atop the Bryant career charts in tripleswith 15 and walks with 113, while he sits third in runs scored with154, fourth in doubles with 44, tied for fifth in home runs with 22and tied for fourth in hits with 234. Defensively, McKenna hasshown himself to be a solid defensive shortstop, setting the Bryantrecord for assists in a career with 801 while making just 89 careererrors to give him a .928 career fielding percentage. McKenna had acareer batting average of .289, including hitting .319 over hislast three seasons. This season, he finished third on the team inhitting with a .338 average while leading the team in home runs(12) and runs scored (62).

Bryant posted a 32-22 overall record in its first year competing inDivision I in 2009.  The Bulldogs posted an impressive 4-1record against teams from the Atlantic-10, 3-0 against America Eastteams and 2-1 against teams from the ACC.

McKenna was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 27th round(810th overall) during the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. Hebecomes the first Bryant baseball player drafted since Doug Johnsonwas selected by the Colorado Rockies in the fifth round (142ndoverall) in the 2002 draft.

 
As a junior: Started in all 64 games as a juniorcaptain ... Led the team with four triples and an on-basepercentage of .410 ... Was at or near the the top in a number ofstatistical categories, posting a .305 batting average, collecting71 hits and slugging .481 while recording 41 RBI, six home runs and112 total bases ... Nationally ranked for triples (No. 86), base onballs per game (No. 60) and base on balls (No. 49) ... Named asecond team all-conference selection ... NECBL All-Star.

As a sophomore: Started 54-of-59 games, earning175 at bats as a sophomore captain ... Set a program record forassists with 231 and tied another with seven triples ... Led theteam with a .314 batting average ... NE-10 Second Team selection... Played for the Fort Collins Foxes of the Mountain CollegiateLeague over the summer.

As a freshman: Started 51-of-51 games in theinfield for the Bulldogs ... Finished with a team-leading 163assists ... Went 2-for-5 with an RBI in the first game of hiscareer against Delta State ... Hit two home runs against LincolnMemorial.

Before Bryant: A 2005 graduate of AmityRegional High School in Woodbridge, Conn. ... Played four years ofbaseball for the Spartans, earning three letters as the startingshortstop ... Finished high school career with the best fieldingpercentage in school history ... Led team to two HousatonicChampionships and two Southern Connecticut Conference Championships...
