VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS STONEHILL IN 2026 HOME OPENER

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University women's volleyball team swept Stonehill, 3-0, in its 2026 home opener Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the Chace Athletic Center.  

The Bulldogs (1-3) claimed their first win of the season,
downing the Skyhawks (2-3) by five or more points in each set.  

Hannah Jackson registered a career-
 and game-high 11 kills, including three blocks, to lead the Bulldogs offensively. Carrina Barron logged 13 digs defending Bryant's home court.   
 
COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH THERESA GARLACY:   
"Super excited to see such a great team effort for our first home game. Our middles were outstanding as were our setters. The Band, the crowd and everything created a great atmosphere!" 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
SET 1- Bryant, 24-19 
  • Stonehill battled back and cut its deficit to a point 11-9. 
  • Olatunde slammed down a kill at match point to put the exclamation point on Bryant's strong opening set.  
SET 2- Bryant, 25-13 
  • After a 2-2 knot, the Bulldogs rattled off a dominant 12-0 run featuring kills from Jackson, Olatunde and Alvarado to pull ahead 14-2.  
  • Bryant pushed its edge to 20-6 through two straight kills from Brookelyn Talmadge.  
  • Stonehill outscored the Bulldogs with an ensuing 7-4 stretch until Talmadge blasted down another kill to secure the set.  
SET 3Bryant, 25-27 
  • Both sides were deadlocked at 10-10 through 20 rallies.  
  • The Bulldogs took their first three-point lead of the set at 16-13 off an Alvarado kill and never looked back.  
  • Bryant capped off a match with a 9-4 burst behind pairs of kills coming from Curran, Alvarado and Jackson to earn the victory.  
 
STATS AND NOTES: 
  • Bryant is now 20-0 all-time against Stonehill.  
  • Curran tallied 8 kills while Talmadge and Alvarado both notched six kills. 
  • Jackson hit .421 on a team-high 19 total attempts. 
  • The Bulldogs recorded a .302 hitting percentage as a unit.  
  • Koeller totaled 19 assists while Madison Keem added 12 assists.  
 
NEXT UP:  
The Bulldogs will clash with Rhode Island in its first match of the Ocean State Cup on Friday, Sept. 4 at Keaney Gymnasium. First serve is set for 7 p.m., and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
