SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University women's volleyball team defeated Manhattan, 3-1, on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the Chace Athletic Center.  

The Bulldogs (5-8) bested the Jaspers (1-10) in the first two sets before claiming the fourth to secure the victory.  

Kaitlin Curran registered a double-double of a career-high 18 kills and 13 digs. Carrina Barron tallied 19 digs, and Madison Koeller logged a 24-assist, 11-dig double-double.

SET 1- Bryant, 25-21 

• Both sides were tied at 10-10 following 20 rallies.  
• The Bulldogs reeled off five straight points, featuring three kills from Curran, to later go up 20-15.  
• Bryant scored three of the last four rallies to take set one. Hannah Jackson slammed down the set-point kill. 

SET 2- Bryant, 25-19 

• Trailing 4-2, the Bulldogs mounted a 6-0 run behind kills from Layla Olatunde, Cara Lewandowski and Nina Gavin to take an 8-4 edge.  
• The Jaspers closed the margin and later trailed 18-17.  
• Kalia Alvarado and Curran drilled kills as Bryant scored the last three points of the set.  

SET 3- Manhattan, 25-23  

• The Jaspers scored on back-to-back rallies to hold a 17-13 advantage.  
• The Bulldogs knotted the score at 18-18 and then went up 22-20 off an Olatunde kill.  
• Manhattan scored in six of the last seven rallies to take the set.  

SET 4- Bryant, 25-20 

• A 4-0 surge by the Bulldogs gave them a 13-8 lead.  
• Manhattan deadlocked the set at 15-15 by scoring four unanswered points of its own.  
• Bryant won the last four rallies, as Barron notched a kill to secure the victory.  

 

• Brookelyn Talmadge collected seven kills and seven block assists. 
• Curran produced 23 total points, including six block assists.  
• Olatunde finished with eight kills while Lewandowski and Alvarado added six kills.  
• The Bulldogs recorded 59 kills to the Jaspers' 35.  
• Bryant moved to 5-0 all-time against Manhattan.  

 

Bryant will travel to Queens to compete in the Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic, hosted by St. John's. The Bulldogs will face Rutgers at 10 a.m. and St. John's at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 at Carnesecca Arena. They will then take on Penn at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19.
