BRYANT EARNS SERIES SWEEP OF MAINE, CLINCHES OUTRIGHT AMERICA EAST REGULAR SEASON TITLE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University softball team completed the series sweep of Maine with a 9-5 victory at Conaty Park on Sunday.
 
With the victory, the Bulldogs clinched the outright America East Regular Season Championship. Bryant had grabbed a share of the title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming America East Playoffs with a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader.

Bryant will play its final regular season game on Wednesday at Stonehill before preparing for the 2026 America East Softball Championships May 6-9 in Orono, Maine.

  • Trailing 5-3, the Bulldogs scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth.
How it Happened
  • In the bottom of the first, Arriana Willians reached on an error, advanced on a groundout, stole third base, and Bryce Clendenin laid down a sacrifice bunt for the score (1-0).
  • Gabriella Gesualdo drew a lead-off walk, and then stole second, leading to an Alana Garcia RBI up the middle (2-0). Gracie Bishop then walked, and Lexi Powell reached on an error, which set up Jady Jenks for an RBI single through the right side in the bottom of the fourth (3-0).
  • In the top of the fifth, Maine tallied five runs on two singles and a double (5-3).
  • Alana Garcia reached as the center fielder missed her fly ball and then advanced to third on a fielder's interference. Teagan Thompson then hit an RBI single (5-4). Jadyn Jenks would reach on an error, and Jaiden McKenna hit a single to right field, tying the game at five. During the next at-bat, Laniya Lewis hit an RBI single through the right side, scoring two (7-5). The Bulldogs would add two more runs on a wild pitch and a groundout in the bottom of the sixth (9-5).
