BRYANT WINS A THRILLER FOR SERIES VICTORY AGAINST BINGHAMTON ON SUNDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Gabriella Gesualdo hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to break a 7-7 tie, as the Bryant University softball team defeated Binghamton 10-8 at Conaty Park for the series victory.
 
The Bulldogs were trailing 5-0 before tallying five runs in the bottom of the third.

  • In the top of the first, the Bearcats scored 2 on a two-out double (2-0).
  • Binghamton tallied three runs in the top of the third, on a single, double, and a fielder's choice (5-0).
  • Jadyn Jenks and Laniya Lewis hit back-to-back singles to start the bottom of the third. Bryant then scored a run on an error (5-1). Gabriella Gesualdo then brought a run home on a groundout (5-2). Alana Garcia scored the Bulldogs' third run on a single (5-3). Teagan Thompson drew a walk, and then Carley Genzer knocked a single up the middle, tying the game at five.
  • Binghamton responded with a solo home run and RBI-double in the top of the fourth (7-5).
  • In the bottom of the fourth, Lewis hit a lead-off single, followed by a walk. Bryce Clendenin then brought home a run on a fielder's choice (7-6). The Bulldogs then attempted a double steal, with Arriana Williams stealing home to tie the game at seven.
  • With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Lewis and Williams drew walks, which led to a three-run home run from Gesualdo down the left field line, giving the Black and Gold their first lead of the day (10-7).
  • In the top of the sixth, Binghamton scored a run on a wild pitch (10-8).
