BRYANT FALLS TO JMU AND BC ON SATURDAY

SALEM, VA. – The Bryant University softball team fell to James Madison and Boston College on Saturday at the Hokie Invitational.
 
Amira Rainer hit a home run in the extra-inning loss to JMU, while Arriana Williams had a career-high three hits and tallied her first career triple.

  • The Bulldogs had runners in scoring position in the seventh and eighth innings but were unable to score before JMU walked it off in the bottom of the eighth.
How it Happened (GM1)
  • Arriana Williams hit a leadoff triple, which led to an Alana Garcia sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning (1-0).
  • In the top of the second, Amira Rainer launched a solo home run to left field. Gabriella Gesualdo then hit a single and stole second, leading to a Williams RBI-single (3-0). The final run of the inning was scored off a JMU throwing error (4-0).
  • JMU countered with a solo HR in the bottom of the second (4-1).
  • The Dukes tied the game on a three-run HR in the bottom of the third (4-4).
  • Garcia and Jaelyn Lee hit back-to-back singles, setting up Bryce Clendenin and Rainer, who hit an RBI-double to break the 4-4 tie (6-4) in the top of the fifth inning.
  • JMU responded with a two-run HR in the bottom of the fifth (6-6).
  • The Dukes hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth, giving Bryant a 7-6 loss.
