GESUALDO AND THOMPSON TALLY 3 HITS AS BULLDOGS SPLIT AT DAY 2 OF AGGIE CLASSIC

COLLEGE STATION, TX. – Gabriella Gesualdo went 3-4 with three RBI and a home run in the Bryant University softball team's 9-6 victory over Abilene Christian in the second game on Saturday.
 
Teagan Thompson also went 3-3 from the plate and added two RBI.
 
Alissa West's first career hit was a HR in the 5-1 defeat against Utah State in the first game of the day.

Key Moment (GM2)
  • The Bulldogs had runners on second and third with no outs in the bottom of the sixth, but were unable to generate runs.
How it Happened (GM2)
  • In the top of the first inning, Gabriella Gesualdo knocked a solo HR over the left field wall to give the Black and Gold a 1-0 lead.
  • The Wildcats responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three runs on a single and a sacrifice fly (3-1).
  • Jaelynn Lee hit a leadoff double, followed by a Gesualdo single. Both runners advanced on a groundout, which led to a Teagan Thompson sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning (3-2).
  • In the top of the fourth inning, West hit a single, and Jadyn Jenks drew a walk. Emilia Mancusi then hit a sac-fly, tying the game at three. Arianna Williams then stole second with Jenks on third, allowing the Bulldogs to score a run and take a 4-3 lead.
  • Jenks, Lee, and Williams drew consecutive walks, loading the bases, in the top of the sixth inning. Gesualdo then brought home two on an RBI single through the right side (6-3). Thompson then hit an RBI single, increasing the lead to four (7-3). The Bulldogs tallied two more runs in the inning off of a Bryce Clendenin RBI single and Jenks ' bases-loaded walk, for a total of five runs in the inning (9-3).
  • ACU hit a three-run HR in the bottom of the seventh, then Maddy Wachter got out three of the next four batters, including a strikeout giving the Bulldogs the 9-6 victory.
