WOMEN’S LACROSSE DROPS SATURDAY MATINEE TO DARTMOUTH

HANOVER, N.H.- A scoreless first quarter and an 8-0 opening run by the Big Green proved insurmountable as the Bryant University Women's Lacrosse team fell to Dartmouth, 19-6, at Scully-Fahey Field on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Bryant falls to 1-1 on the year and drops to 0-3 in the all-time series against the Big Green. Bryant returns home to host Harvard on Wednesday, Feb 18. First draw is set for 6:00 p.m.

Elise Larsen and Riley O'Mara each tallied a pair of goals for Bryant in the loss. Emma Wymes tallied her second goal of the season in as many games

Sophomore defender Eli Torbay notched her first career goal with time expiring in the fourth quarter.


Kaelynn O'Brien led the defense for Bryant with five caused turnovers and five ground balls. Jessica Wilhelm scooped six ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Harper McGineley logged two caused turnovers and a ground ball.

  • Dartmouth opened the game on an 8-0 run and held Bryant scoreless through the first quarter. 
How it Happened
  • Dartmouth would strike first just 45 seconds in the contest when Katie Barr found Catherine Erb (1-0).
  • The Big Green were then successful on two free position goals in two minutes. Lauren Riley scored at 13:14 and Fiona O'Keefe scored just past the 12 minute mark (3-0).
  • Charlotte Myers made an excellent pass from back x and found Madeline Egan for the easy score (4-0).
  • Madeline Egan worked the ball behind the cage and slipped a perfect pass to Charlotte Myers cutting through the middle, and Myers buried the finish to extend the lead (5-0).
  • Barr found an open stretch in the Bulldog's defense and won the one-on-one matchup against Donis (6-0).
  • Egan completed her first quarter hat-trick with a free-position score at the 3:01 mark (7-0).
  • With time winding down in the opening quarter, Myers found Erb for her second score of the afternoon (8-0).
  • After a scoreless first quarter, Larsen got the Bulldogs on the board with 13:20 to play in the second after working from behind the cage and sliding a shot past the Dartmouth keeper (8-1).
  • Dartmouth responded a minute later when Myers found Egan  for her fourth goal of the game with 12:28 to go in the first half (9-1).
  • O'Mara found open turf and fired a well-placed shot into the top of the cage giving the Bulldogs their second goal of the day (9-2).
  • Myers charted her fourth assist of the day with 9:11 to play in the half and set up O'Keefe for her second goal of the game (10-2).
  • Erb completed a hat-trick of her own after scoring off an assist from Etta Coburn (11-2).
  • Erb threaded a pass to Barr for the finish, pushing the advantage to double digits (12-2).
  • O'Keefe became the third member of the Big Green to record a hat-trick in the first half, scoring off a feed from Erb (13-2).
  • Larsen took advantage of a man-up opportunity and tallied her second goal of the day with 1:50 to play in the opening half (13-3).
  • Erb beat the buzzer yet again, scoring her fourth goal of the day off a pass from O'Keefe (14-3).
  • Sophia Frucci centered a perfect pass to Emma Wymes who crashed in for the score (14-4).
  • The Bulldogs would tally back-to-back goals and bring the deficit back to single-digits after O'Mara scored on off the free-position (14-5).
  • O'Keefe made a Bryant defender miss with a spin move and had an uncontested run at the cage to bury her fourth goal of the contest (15-5).
  • Egan extended Dartmouth's lead to 11 and posted her fourth goal of the day with 1:03 to play in the third (16-5).
  • Myers' offensive showcase for the Big Green carried into the fourth quarter, as she dished out assists on goals by Coburn at 13:09 (17–5) and O'Keefe at 11:37 (18–5).
  • Myers dialed up Egan for her fifth goal of the game with 6:22 to play (19-5).
  • Torbay netted her first career goal on a free-position attempt with 27 seconds remaining (19-6).

  • Dartmouth held a 26-18 advantage in shots, and led 23-14 in shots on goal.
