BRYANT OPENS LEAGUE PLAY WITH WIN AT MAINE
- Bryant earned its first road win of the season on Saturday as it opened America East play with a 56-51 win at Maine.
- Quincy Allen (12p, 11r) and Ashley Sims II (12p, 10r) each posted double-doubles.
- Aaron Davis III led the Bulldogs with 13 points.
- Bryant led by as many as 11 points in the second half but trailed 50-49 late before Sims finished at the rim with 3:08 left. Bryant would outscore the Black Bears 7-1 the rest of the way.
FIVE MORE THINGS TO KNOW
- Timofei Rudovskii has shot the ball from beyond the arc over his last 10 games, going 20-of-45. He is now shooting 37 percent from three on the season and leads the team with 11.3 ppg. He was held without a field goal at Maine but did add six rebounds and three blocks.
- Aaron Davis III is shooting a team-best 41 percent from beyond the arc this season. He is 18-of-36 from three over his last five games (all starts).
- Quincy Allen enters league play ranked second in blocks (1.8) and steals (1.62). He is also averaging 10.5 ppg and 4.8 rpg on the year.
- Ashley Sims II is having an all-around year, averaging 7.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 2.2 apg. Sims' double-double on Saturday at Maine was the first of his career. He was named the America East Rookie of the Week.
- Bryant ranks second in the league in scoring defense (70.7) and first in field goal defense (.426).
A BIT ABOUT UMASS LOWELL
- UML enters Thursday with a 6-10 overall record and a 1-0 mark in league play. The River Hawks earned an 83-71 victory over UAlbany last Saturday.
- Xavier Spencer scored 23 points vs UAlbany and is averaging 10.6 ppg on the year.
- Austin Green leads UML in scoring (14.6) and rebound (7.6).
- The River Hawks average 77 ppg (2nd) but allow 79.9 ppg (9th). UML is also the best rebounding team in the league.
