BOSTON -- Bryant men's basketball freshman Ashley Sims II was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday morning. 

Sims becomes the third different Bulldog to claim the award following a double-double performance at Maine on Sautrday. He joins Ty Tabales (3x) and Timofei Rudovskii (1x) as the other Bulldogs to earn the award.

The Glen Burnie, Md., native was a crucial part of Bryant's 56-51 win over Maine to open America East play. He scored eight of his 12 points in the second half, including the go-ahead basket with 3:08 to play. Sims' baseline bucket gave Bryant a 51-50 lead and the Bulldogs would close it out from there.

Bryant returns to the Chace Athletic Center this Thursday, hosting UMass Lowell in its America East home opener. Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
