Bryant Bulldogs Club Golf: A Season of Competition, Growth, and Community
The Bryant University Club Golf team concluded its 2025 season with a series of strong performances and memorable experiences across New England. From the first tee shot at Crystal Lake tryouts to the final regional event in New Bedford, the Bulldogs demonstrated skill, determination, and a commitment to building a close-knit community of golfers. This season offered students the chance to sharpen their game, compete at a high level, and travel to some of the region's most scenic courses—all while representing Bryant with pride.
The year began at Crystal Lake in Burrillville, RI, where 14 players earned roster spots from a competitive field of 40. Early standouts included
Shane Mello (72), Drew Lewis (73), and
Braden Shapiro (73), setting the tone for a talented lineup. The team's first major tournament came at Stanley Golf Course for the Metro Event, where Bryant rallied from a 10-shot deficit after the opening round to win by 15 strokes overall—a defining moment for the season. Nick Emery claimed medalist honors with rounds of 74 and 69, while Drew Lewis and
Billy Fitzgerald secured top 10 finishes.
Momentum carried into the NCCGA New England Regional circuit. At Hazelton Golf Club, Bryant placed third overall, led by Mello (71–77) and Shapiro (75–72). The Bulldogs followed up with a dominant win at The Ranch in Southwick, MA, taking first place by 30 shots. Shapiro finished second individually (77–73), with
Thomas McMellen and Mello rounding out the top five. The final regional event in New Bedford saw Bryant finish fourth, highlighted by Mello's third-place finish (76–74) and strong contributions from Lewis, Theriault, and Emery. These results earned the team a spot in the National Qualifiers, capping off a season of growth and achievement.

Traveling to premier courses across New England—from the rolling fairways of The Ranch to the coastal beauty of New Bedford—added to the experience, making every event memorable. The team's success on the course was matched by its growth off the course, as players built friendships and engaged with the broader golf community.

With experienced leaders returning and a talented group of underclassmen ready to step up, the program is building a strong foundation for the future.
