Bryant Bulldogs Run Club: A Season of Progress and Team Spirit
The Bryant University Run Club wrapped up its 2025 cross-country season with consistent improvement and strong participation across six major meets. Starting at the Codfish Bowl in Boston, the team established its competitive foundation while welcoming new members into the program. Justin Leopold led the early efforts with a time of 30:40, supported by Ben Schubbe, Sean Nelson, and Michael Muller. These initial races provided valuable experience and set the tone for a season focused on growth and teamwork.
The Brown Bear Invitational followed, where Bryant finished 8th overall despite challenging heat and illness. Key performances included Leopold at 33:00 and Brandon Scovil at 33:38, with several runners showing resilience under tough conditions. October brought two important meets: the University of Connecticut Invitational and Harvard XC Meet. At UConn, Scovil posted a season-best 30:55, while Nelson and Leopold finished close behind. Harvard featured solid efforts from upperclassmen, including Leopold (31:57.40) and Schubbe (38:30.71), and gave the team another opportunity to race together and improve.
Regionals in Westfield marked a major highlight, with Bryant placing 14th in the Northeast. Scovil led the team with an impressive 28:55.9, followed by Nelson (31:43.92) and Muller (33:04.68). Underclassmen Ryan Caldwell and Connor Vecchiarelli also contributed with times of 33:05.11 and 35:01.52, showing promise for the future. Nationals in Hershey closed the season on a strong note, with both upperclassmen and freshmen competing in separate races. Scovil finished 65th in the Junior/Senior race with 31:39.50, while Muller led the Freshman/Sophomore group at 33:59.90. Caldwell, Gray, and Vecchiarelli rounded out the younger group, demonstrating depth and development within the roster.
