SMITHFIELD, R.I. –
Elijah Elliott's third touchdown of the game brought the Bryant football team within two with 23 seconds left but Towson stopped the game-tying two-point conversion to hold on for a 26-24 victory on Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the CAA Football. Bryant has lost each of its last two games by a combined four points. Bryant is back at home next Saturday when it hosts Maine on Homecoming and Hall of Fame Weekend.
Elliott finished with three total touchdowns (2 rush, 1 receive) and 131 all-purpose yards to lead the Black and Gold.
Aldrich Doe and
Tristen Riley both hauled in five receptions for 50+ yards, while
Lonnie Rice led the Bulldogs with 12 tackles.

How it Happened
- The Tigers tallied the first score of the game on a 35-yard field goal on their first possession of the game (3-0).
- The Bulldogs responded with a 13-play drive that was stopped short, resulting in a 21-yard chip shot for Bryce Soli, tying the game at three.
- Towson would begin the second quarter over midfield, and then get stopped in the red zone by two pass breakups from Olatunde Mkparu and Liam Lindo. This stop resulted in a short field goal for the Tigers (6-3).
- The Black and Gold fumbled the ball giving the Tigers the ball on the Bryant 40-yard line. This led to a seven-play scoring drive that was punched in on the one-yard line by the running back (13-3) with under two minutes left in the first half.
- The Black and Gold would then run a two-minute drive, which produced a seven-play drive that was capped off by a 22-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Elliott (13-9) before the half. The drive also saw a 20-yard pass to Tristen Riley and a ten-yard completion to Aldrich Doe. Elliott came out of the backfield and Brennan Myer hit him in stride down the visiting sideline for the score.
- Towson would respond on the first drive of the second half with a 25-yard TD pass (20-9). The play came on a fourth down as the Tigers caught the Bulldog defense with a trick play.
- The Tigers would then produce a nine-play drive, resulting in a 27-yard field goal (23-9).
- The Bulldogs began with the ball at the end of the third quarter and executed a seven-play drive that saw Elliott escape the defensive line and score his second TD of the game on a 12-yard rush (23-16).
- Towson fair caught a punt on the Bryant one-yard line, and then on the next play the Bulldogs' defense tackled the running back in the endzone for the safety (23-18).
- Bryant would throw an interception on the next drive, and Towson took over on the Black and Gold's 35-yard line, tacking on a 26-yard FG (26-18).
- The Black and Gold would then record a 14-play drive, which included a 4th down conversion on an 11-yard Riley catch. Elliott would score his third touchdown of the day (26-24), punching it in from a yard out with 23 seconds left.
- The Bulldogs then went for the two-point conversion, a run to the left, which was stopped by the Towson defense at the one yard line.
