SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant volleyball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night, defeating the Fairfield Stags in four sets.
The win was highlighted by
Madison Koeller, who recorded a remarkable 58 assists. She now ranks 3
rd all-time in single-game assists in Bryant Division 1 history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET 1 – The Bulldogs trailed 7-5 to begin the set, receiving a pair of kills from Arianna Ugolini and Brookelyn Talmadge. The Stags continued to extend their lead, going up 17-13, but Arianna Ugolini rattled off a trio of kills to keep the Bulldogs offense alive. The turning point in the set came in the late stages, with Bryant trailing 22-18. They proceeded to go on an impressive 8-0 run to win the first set 25-22, highlighted by a combined blocks by Ruth Ochelli and London Hunt and Brookelyn Talmadge and Arianna Ugolini and kills from Brookelyn Talmadge, Arianna Ugolini, and Ruth Ochelli, and capped off by Carrina Barron's third service ace of the set to go up 1-0 in sets.
- SET 2 – The Bulldogs pulled ahead 11-9 as London Hunt and Arianna Ugolini recorded back-to-back kills. The Stags pushed back, but Bryant rattled off four straight points to take the 18-17 lead, highlighted by kills from Ruth Ochelli and Kaitlin Curran and a service ace from Madison Koeller. The Stags responded with a 4-0 run of their own to go up 21-18. Arianna Ugolini continued to be the engine for the Bulldogs offense, piling up a trio of kills late in the set, but the Stags closed it out with a 25-23 win, tying the match at a set a piece.
- SET 3 – Bryant jumped out to a 9-5 lead, capped off by a kill from Brookelyn Talmadge. The Bulldogs padded their lead by going on a 10-7 run to take the 19-12 lead, as Arianna Ugolini pounded a trio of kills. Kaitlin Curran, Ana Fuertes-Brito, and Ruth Ochelli each chalked up a kill to polish off the third set 25-16 for Bryant.
- SET 4 – Both teams traded punches in the fourth set, with neither side able to pull in front. The Bulldogs offense continued to be powered by Arianna Ugolini who recorded five kills, and Carrina Barron added a service ace to give Bryant the 13-12 lead. Bryant then went on a 3-0 run later in the set as Brookelyn Talmadge tallied another kill and Ana Fuertes-Brito notched a service ace to put the Bulldogs up 17-16. The set continued to be a seesaw battle, but Bryant tipped the scales by receiving a trio of kills from Arianna Ugolini and one each from London Hunt, Brookelyn Talmadge, Kaitlin Curran, and Ruth Ochelli to edge Fairfield 24-23. After tallying an incredible 58 assists, the match was destined to end with Madison Koeller, who finished it off with a kill to give Bryant the fourth set 25-23 and the home victory over Fairfield.
