Bryant storms past Skyhawks, 12-3, on Wednesday

EASTON, Mass. – The Bryant baseball team scored in each of the first six innings and pounded out 18 hits on its way to a 12-3 victory over Stonehill on Wednesday afternoon at Lou Gorman Field.
 
The Bulldogs improve to 23-16-1 overall with their 12th win in the last 13 games. Bryant finishes the month of April with a 12-2 record and will now turn its attention this weekend's America East series against Maine.
 
Drew Wyers led the way with four hits and three RBI, while Zac Zyons (3-6, HR), Gavin Noriega (3-5, 2RBI, 3R) and Brandyn Durand (3-4, 2RBI, 2R) each posted three hits. Gavin Greger had two hits and two RBI and Matt D'Amato doubled twice.
 
Trey Deitelbaum earned his second win of the year with 3.0 scoreless on Wednesday.

  • Zyons set the tone early, hitting his fifth career leadoff home run on the first pitch of the game.
How it Happened
  • Zyons clubbed the first pitch of the game over the wall in right center for his team-leading ninth home run of the year. Noriega would follow with a single and came around to score on a two-out double to left from Greger.
  • In the second, Durand doubled and scored on a sac fly from Noriega. Wyers then brought home Cam Papetti with a single to left.
  • Charlie Saul made it 5-0 after three as he drove in D'Amato with a two-out single up the middle.
  • In the fourth, Greger drove in a run with a single to right and D'Amato followed with a sac fly. Durand made it 8-0 as he blooped an RBI single to right.
  • Wyers picked up an RBI single in the fifth and then Durand, Noriega and Wyers all added RBI singles to make it 12-0 in the sixth.
  • Stonehill extended the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
