Rohwer goes deep in loss to Providence

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Sam Rohwer hit her fourth home run in the last three games during the Bryant University softball team's 8-6 home loss against Providence on Wednesday.

How it Happened
  • In the top of the first, PC tallied three runs on a double and a two-run HR (3-0).
  • The Friars took a five-run lead after scoring two runs in the top of the second (5-0).
  • McKenzie McAloon reached on an error and advanced to second base. This set up Faith Valenzuela, who hit a double to the gap in the bottom of the second (5-1).
  • PC added three runs to their lead on a bases-loaded walk and a two-run double in the top of the fifth (8-1).
  • Amira Rainer hit a lead-off double in the bottom of the fifth. Valenzuela was walked and Rainer advanced to third, leading to a double steal scoring Rainer (8-2).
  • In the bottom of the sixth, Rohwer began the inning with a single and was pinch-run for by Laniya Lewis. Meaghan Houk drew a walk, and then the Bulldogs scored on a ground out (8-3).
  • Makenna Coleman was walked, and Hannah Cochran singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Then Rohwer, on the first pitch, launched a ball over the left field wall (8-6).
